The Corporate Murder
The chalk line has been drawn and the forensic team has arrived to determine the cause of the corporate murder. Someone has taken the life right out the corporate social media network. The followers are suffering from boredom and the corporation is now seen as a stale forgotten enterprise.
These creativity-killing murders are one of the hardest things to overcome for a business looking to differentiate itself from its competition. One of the biggest weapons for destroying the uniqueness of a company is via templates. Templates sadly are everywhere; from websites to social media platforms you are constantly given a regulated beginning point with limited customization. While in web design this can easily be avoided by using custom graphic designs. Large social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter are a different story. Slowly users are developing unique tactics to make their pages stand out from the rest and avoid the creativity killers grasp. Here are some good tips to help along with some excellent examples to illustrate.
Cover Photo: Should always be a dynamic high-resolution image and be changed frequently. There are many options to choose from for a cover photo such as brand promotions, product sales, portfolio samples, and upcoming events.
Page Tabs: One of the most forgotten areas to optimize on your Facebook page is the tabs section. First decide on which tab topics you would like to have on your page and then design the photo to fit accordingly. Have a call to action element associated with each in order to further provoke others to click.
Page Posts: Having a healthy mix of photos (2:1) for your posts can help keep your page fans involved. Redbull does an excellent job of this by posting high-resolution images of gear and uploading countdown photos for different events that they host.
Great examples: RedBull, Coca Cola, Taco Bell
Profile Picture: Similar to Facebook keep a high-resolution picture of your brand logo for a profile picture.
Background: Your twitter background photo is one of the areas that can be hard to optimize. The most efficient way is to make sure that you have extra data (other social media outlets, more in depth bio) on the left or right side of the background and not the centre. This is because after you upload your background to twitter your profile will take up the centre section of the background.

Product + Services: Place a unique photo to accurately represent each. Don’t just use your brand logo as a placemat. You also have the ability to have a rotating set of images at the top of your Products + Services page, take full advantage of this by posting unique items to fill up the space reflecting your products and services.
Cover Photo: This photo is similar Facebook yet comes with a different angle. It is similar in the sense that you should be updating it and it should be a high-resolution image however it differs because you have to adapt to the different viewers you has on LinkedIn. Make your content of your photos business focused, with call to actions about how your business can better their companies.
Great examples: Adobe, IBM, The Walt Disney Company
YouTube
Banner Photo: This is the first thing someone will see when they click on your channel. YouTube does not have many options to showcase your channel so making sure that the banner photo is eye catching with a call to action is key. You can also carry the same banner through to your video pages, which gives your channel more personality.
Intro video: Although it is not a photo, a well-designed intro video on your channels main page can be a great way to grow your subscriber list.
