A Website's Bounty
Everyone likes finding something that is unique and valuable. Everyone loves putting their hand in an old coat and finding money that they had misplaced or being surprised by extra cash in their bank accounts. I have never met anyone in my life who didn’t like being surprised by a rare unique bounty. We were made to like and appreciate unique and valuable things.
Now imagine that you found a treasure map to the most amazing treasure of this century but the person who drew the map left out all the important information. This would one of the most frustrating things in your life. You have all the willingness to dig and search, but you may never find it. It’s like winning the biggest lottery but then you can’t find your ticket.
When visitors come to your website they are stumbling upon a hidden treasure. Your website is that treasure map and your products or services are the treasure. As a website owner, I want to make sure that the treasure map I have provided them is not missing valid information and will allow my visitors to find the treasure.
So many websites are lacking the ability to direct a visitor to where they should be heading. They may have all the unique and creative elements but the customers are totally lost. One website I visited recently had no visible buttons; I had to move my mouse around on the screen until random pictures appeared. These random pictures told me nothing of what page I was about to land on. The website owner actually stated: “I don’t know why people can’t navigate my site and why I am not selling products”. The reason is because their treasure map was not clear and concise. Website visitors want to know where they are going and should be directed to where you want them to go.
If your website is about selling products, you need to be clear about how to buy your products. This does not mean you have to sacrifice design and creativity. It means make it simple to understand. If your treasure hunters are leaving because your beautiful map is too difficult then I suggest you change your map. Now on the other side of that coin, you also need to incorporate a very appealing map. You need to have a map that states this is valuable; if your map is unattractive then the perception of how valuable the treasure is could be tainted. If your visitors come to your website looking for a treasure and are presented with a terrible image then the perceived value of your products or services is affected.
When we design your website we take into consideration all these factors. We make sure that your clients are presented with a proper flow that will steer them to your products or services while keeping that creative unique look in place. Every website should have a flow and present its value. If your website is not achieving what you think it should, contact to us to see how we can increase your websites bounty.
